Lake Greenwood

Ahh, living our dreams with life at Lake Greenwood.

This clear, freshwater lake was constructed in the late 1930’s by Greenwood County to provide power to the Greenwood area.    The natural beauty of Lake Greenwood has generated not only power, but considerable residential development along the 212 miles of shoreline that encompass Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry counties.   The lake boasts 11,400 acres of surface water at an average depth of 22 feet.

Lake Greenwood has 5 public boat ramps and 16 fish attraction devices.    Lake Greenwood is the home of many activities---fundraising boat runs, Lights on the Lake (a July 4 celebration), church services on the water, bass and other fishing tournaments, and best of all, several relaxing “boat in” restaurants. Many Stoney Point residents own lakefront homes and have direct access for boats, kayaks, paddleboards, jet skis right from their docks.   Those of us living on and around the golf course enjoy lake access via boat slips at our marina or boat ramp.
